Sorry about that but I've had some people thinking they could pass off my stuff as their own... Cheeky buggers aren't they... To the people who have already seen my poetry your in for a shock... I've added poetry from my dim dark past some of which churned up many emotions... I hope these poems do for you what they do for me...

Word of advice... If you have sensitive emotions and find that the written word can effect you more deeply than what would be considered "normal" then I would advise that you don't read this poetry as a great deal of it was written when I was going through some very strong emotions and therefore the poetry was written in order to let others share in that emotion... By going on and reading my verse you will be covered with a deluge of my emotion put into poetry... So if you want to get out of here do it now, if not then

Enjoy !!!

Insomnia

Tossing and turning,
mind in a whirl.
Begging for sleep,
but images still swirl.

The minutes tick by,
the hours crawl on.
Its half past three,
and in my mind is a song.

Is it just me,
or does it happen to you?
The song in my head,
is mixed up like a stew.

I bury my head,
deep in my pillow.
But try as I might,
this song just won't go.

The monotonous tune,
is driving me mad.
Its elaborate lyrics,
are excessively sad.

The time passed quickly,
the sun starts to rise.
My need for some sleep,
grows immensely in size.

The song now has stopped,
sleep caresses my brow.
I just fall asleep,
but Uni starts now.

Rudely awaken,
by the alarms shrill cry.
I smile to myself,
but I don't know why.

Resigning myself,
to the task ahead.
Quietly dragging,
myself out of bed.

My lecturer sees,
that my eyelids are like lead.
The seat that I'm in,
will do for a bed.

Blissfully I sleep,
quite unaware.
Not feeling my friends,
so quietly stare.

Now I awake,
after last nights curse.
But the pain in my back,
has made me feel worse.

Number Game

Our world has become a number game.
We have no face, we have no name.
Yet we feel that our lives are free.
But who's to say, what will be will be.

Every day we read and quote,
numbers and codes from little notes.
Meaningless blurbs of endless symbols,
about as much use as an ocean bound thimble.

Striving for purpose, a meaning in life.
But the more we look the greater the strife.
Seemingly endless search for a plan.
But none can be found, it's the plight of man.

the Newcastle Uni Newspaper The Opus...

Black Heart

Damaged goods.
Fallen from grace.
Substitute emotions.
Warm embrace.

Left alone.
Cold walls caress.
Seeing moments.
Of what I can't guess.

Shivering now.
Naked as rain.
Feelings destroyed.
Using anger and pain.

Questioning it all.
Nothing found out.
Fighting the answers.
Don't know what about.

Surely its there.
Hiding in lies.
Answer the question.
Before it dies.

Smiling brightly.
An idiots glow.
Cold dark heart.
Like black snow.

Smashing the facade.
The lies on your face.
Don't do that.
Its right out of place.

Linking of thoughts.
Understand feelings.
Reaching up.
Untouchable ceiling.

Flowers bloom.
Cut at the stem.
Do you care.
Your not one of them.

Idiot smile.
Shining down.
Empty words.
Making no sound.

Terror evolves.
Emotional sea.
But even fear.
Can't find me.

Leave it alone.
Let it be.
Empty attempts.
To hurt me.

Smile to yourself.
I don't really care.
Didn't you know.
Lifes not truth or dare.

There's not enough love.
For me to be part.
So I leave you now.
To your black heart.

Torn Emotions

Seething memories
tearing heart flesh.
Moments of passion
now put to rest.

Leaving behind
that temperate life.
Coming to terms
with anger and strife.

Torn bleeding heart
with tears all aflow.
Emotions now covered
in bitterly cold snow.

Cold fingers hold
this heart in a bind.
Destroying emotions
but leaving the mind.

Seeking an answer
to the question at hand.
Mind flows quickly
like hour glass sand.

The time has come
to put the past back behind.
And now travel on
with a torn heart and torn mind.

Emotional Tug of War

Well it seemed like the right thing to do?
You took one end I took the other and we pulled.
I guess that was the wrong thing to do with a relationship.
But we live and learn.
I mean how was I to know that the damn thing would snap.
I thought your end was stronger.
Guess we where both wrong about that and a few other things.
Oh just smile and accept the fact that nothing lasts forever.

Keith...

Little one

It was said that no smiles
are kept for what was had.
Yet the rain brings smiles
and memories flooding back.
Soft warm nights
in a bed full of dreams.
Comfort in arms
making the world seem more real.
To deny all the good times
in favour of the few bad.
Would be to deny the feelings
and what memories were had.
The rain is in my heart
and the good times are too.
And try as I might
I could never forget you.
The smile on your face
because of natures good fortune.
Abounding love for all
that we once found.
Together or apart
your memories will linger.
For as long as I live
you will be my little Sonia.

Bird Song

She sat there, alone in the dark.
Quiet as a mouse now.
The fire gone out, the lights low.
And yet not quite alone.
She has her cold heart.
I get comfort from that.
At least I am not the only one,
who has feelings that crumble.
Dead and cold, like a living corpse.
This heart feels very little now.
Once, the same as hers, it sang,
like a beautiful bird on a quiet morning.
Now that song bird lies silent,
awaiting a mate to sing with.
Sure there are lots of songs around,
but never quite the right note,
the right beat, the right lyrics.
Short songs are sweet while they last,
but leave a bitter taste.
So like her I sit alone in the dark,
except I stare at the waves,
beating against the shore endlessly.
As I too beat against these feelings.
Not quite sure if I'm beating them away,
or beating them into reason, purpose, logic.
Alone now, smiling about what I don't know.
But at least I smile, that's something in my favour.
So smiling I look out at the scene before me.
People pass by, but take little notice.
I'm glad for that, tears are hard to hide.
But as I sit here, writing this,
a beautiful girl comes over,
sits down near me,
smiles then asks me what I was doing.
Strange how things happen.
Of course she saw my eyes,
(but hers were beautiful)
and she asks what's wrong.
I don't answer, I just pass her my book.
A while later she stops,
she comments on how beautiful my poetry is,
I comment on how beautiful she is.
Feeling kind of corny I stand,
a vain attempt to leave.
She pulls me to the chair.
Well I could have resisted, but why?
And that was when the song bird started to sing.
It's song was quiet, but very alive and aware.
I cry now reading back over this.
But those are good tears.
That girl is now a good friend,
and I have much to tell her.
But she is far away.
And I am alone but happier having known her.
My heart will sing again.
The song bird hasn't died,
just gone north for the winter.

This poem is dedicated to Annette who I met in '95.
I haven't seen her in ages. Thanks for it all.
If she ever reads this she'll know what I mean.

Those Eyes

Snap.
The twig falls, tumbling over and over it lands beside her.
Smiling she leans over to pick it up, hair falling over her face.
Twirling it in her slender fingers, So delicate both twig and flesh.
If only she'd look at me again. Those eyes haunt me.
She looks up to see where the twig came from, and why it fell.
But no answer does that bring. She stands and a breeze catches her hair.
Holding the twig in two hands and looking up into the tree still.
Makes her look more like an angel than ever.
Soft golden hair falls back and now I might see those eyes.
She turns, and then I loose myself in the depths of her eyes.
Those endlessly deep eyes.
Snap.

Dwarfed

Obviously I am a dwarf,
Hammering against the
great black monolith
that is today's pessimism.
A dot on the horizon,
representing free thought.
Like a bug in the sky.

Keith...

Life

Life is but a Dream.
A subconscious chaos.
Arising from the seas of monotony.
Our dreams are the opposition of this.
Chaos in their diversity.

Love

Your back is turned, the knife unsheathed.
A glimmer of steel and your stabbed.
You thought she loved you
right up until you saw the knife,
felt the pain,
and heard the dipping
of your own blood.
Don't worry.
Your not dead.
You might wish it.
This wound only hurts,
causing emotions to flare.
Most people know it as
Love Lost.
But its not your death.
You'll keep living,
a beautiful girl is around the next corner,
with your name tattooed to her curvaceous backside.
Then again someone else's name might be there.
Just rub it off.
That could be fun.
Now put yours there.
That is fun.
Oh no.
Not the hour of midnight.
Excuse me.
I must change into a vampire.
I'm back. That was fun.
I just sucked the blood from an elephant.
Now my dick is 3 foot long,
and 8 inches wide,
but I'm really getting sick of peanuts.
Anyhow, on a more serious note.
The Big Banana... WHY???

Keith...

The Circle

Time.
Many years have come and gone.
Life's great circle carries on.
Some people greet it with a cheery song.
All I hear is the tolling bells gong.

God.
The plight of god, and his merry men.
Talk of life and happiness then.
After time they all ask WHEN?
But their god has gone and left these men.

Death.
The slim hard knife digs quite deep.
The wound does bleed a constant seep.
We prayed the lord our soul to keep.
But we have died within our sleep.

Sometimes.
Sometimes we look and see a smiling face.
Other times we look and see disgrace.
But most of the time that face is just a farce.
Because more often than not they have a finger up their arse.

Keith...

Emotions

Conflicting. Confusing.
Life does twist and turn.
Spinning out of control.
On my right I see a pit of loneliness
that I am already falling into.
On my left I see her.
My last thread which will keep me
bound to the realms of reality.
If I let her go and say
"She isn't worth it"
then I will fall.
Then again I could hang on
and later be pushed into the pit
head first.
Either way, I'm fucked.
Stuff it.
I might as well hold on,
gain a good friend, than let go,
and gain nothing but pain and loneliness.
Do you agree?
I hear the sounds of darkness.
The dark agrees.

This World Sucks...
WHY???
Mini Chocolate Wheatons...
They're Not Big...

Keith...

Madness

The realm of utter madness
looks at me with crazed eyes.
It wants me.
It needs me.
It wants me to die.
It won't win,
but it won't stop either.
Lunacy is the realm known to men
who can't cope with
conflicts of the mind.
Shattered they walk
straight into mental oblivion.
Dead of mind,
and of heart.
Falling now.
Into darkest sleep.
Cold heart wanders
searching for a woman's heat.

Keith...

Warning...

The next poem is very emotional... It is dedicated to my daughter who was stillborn...

Utterance of Death.

Seemingly blind, but able to see
Maybe life is blinding me.
Feeling life's many turns.
But knowing fate, like hell, burns.

Some people fear an early demise.
Others want to die viewing a beautiful sunrise.
But me, myself, who stands alone.
Would stay the same and die alone.

As the child looked into the flames of death.
Breathed in deep for it was her last breath.
Life has ended for this little girl.
Passing from life in this world.

Fear is developed from an early age,
but life's great book will turn another page.
This child's fear has turned to rage.
For life's great book has lost her page.

She's alone and lost in a frightening world,
of fields of flames and ice that swirls.
Her head is full of memories lost.
She wants her life back at any cost.

The reaper again greets her, in her pained mind.
Offering him questions to let her soul unwind.
Sleep now my dear child for your time is at hand.
But fear or rage not, this is a different land.

So endings are found and beginnings move us on.
But wish as we might little Jessica is still gone.

We love you Jessica Amber Halls Kenny...
My little Jessy...

The Lost and the Lonely

I sit in the dark.
I hold on to promises broken.
Feeling what I hold slip away.
I love what I hold,
and I hate it too.
What do I do?
Keep on holding,
or let go and grab what my heart desires?
Is that what I want?
Or am I just in a dream?
And in a few moments the alarm will wake me?
Maybe I'm dead,
and this is HELL!!!
Okay. Then all I have to do
is sit back and enjoy. If that's possible?

Keith...

Darkness

Darkness of the heart encompasses me.
Rivers of salty tears do flow.
Dreams are gone.
Nightmares do come.
Screaming with pain.
I feel as though
my body is being probed
by a long black spiked needle.
A savage instrument
attacking my inner most
thoughts, feelings and emotions.
The heat of this pain
so intense.
But it doesn't warm
my cold heart.
Inside my head
is a mass
that once
was my mind.
Now it is a labyrinth
of confused thoughts.
Left alone
without my better half.
It hurts.
In the dark
justice is blind
and it doesn't come my way.
It hears my cry's
but can't do anything
for I am lost
within the darkest of dark.
That dark is called loneliness.

Keith...

Endings

Looking, at what?
A beginning? An end?
A single leaf, fluttering in the wind.
Pushed up, rolled over.
Landing this way and that.
What did it look like,
before it fell from the tree?
Was it deep in the heart,
on its outer edge,
or lost somewhere between?
It is free to flow with the wind.
Going somewhere, but getting nowhere.
Still fluttering, still rolling.
The leaf will soon die,
but I will not.
I'm still like that leaf.
I fall under trees,
amongst other leaves.
Looking up at the green leaves.
Not with envy,
but with memories of what it was like.
Happy times. Sad times.
But things have come to an end.
Unlike the leaf I can return to the trees.
Once again I can feel
the trees support.
And in its tenuous embrace,
I smile.
As of yet that tree eludes me.
So I tumble and roll,
and carry on looking.
The search continues.
This ending is my new beginning.
And until I die or find something better,
I'll float amongst the leaves,
and listen to the wind.

I've been meaning to tell you this

Lessons Learned

Hold me close, in this fires glow.
Hear my heart and breath so slow.
Dream of wine, love and cheer.
Feeling this heat between us sear.

Loosing touch within your eyes.
In that darkness endless depths arise.
Quenching pain, whilst destroying the soul.
Impaling my heart on a sharp pole.

Keith...

Quick Sand

Seeing tender moments.
Feeling warmth in a caress.
Hearing honey sweet words.
But those are just memories.

Those memories have faded,
now all that is felt,
is the tugging force on a heart,
not fit enough for this pain.

Tugging downwards,
like a pool of quicksand.
Emotional blackmail,
drives me insane.

In relation to this heart,
this flailing, torn up mess.
All its sorrow could not be gaged,
nor absolution will it get.

Forgiveness is not in it,
for the heart that watches knows,
that it could not forgive,
for its cruelty is unbounded.

So from a distance it watches,
as its lover screams and begs.
But a blank stare,
is all that this heart will get.

Sinking further down,
immersed in the pasts filth.
The other heart moves on,
without fear, love or guilt.

Muffled by the depth,
of these simple pains.
Will this heart recover?
This question still remains.

Keith...

Sleepless

Not right now.
I can't when I have so much to do.
NO!!!… I said not right now.
I haven't the time for something as trivial as that.
Oh... right. Like you're an expert.
How many times has it happened to you.
Well that's impressive, but I still haven't time.
Look you can talk all you like but its no use.
So what! I'll get round to that.
There's all the time in the world but not right now...
Aren't going to give up are you?
No I didn't think so...
Well. Okay, talk...
I'll get over that. It was a flash in the pan...
Well maybe 7 years isn't quite a flash in the pan...
What's done is done. She'll never change why should I?
Even if that did happen what difference would it make?
I mean we are in two separate worlds, with moons blocking the view.
I'll get over this in my own time. Leave me alone.
Let me sleep. For the sake of both our sanity's.
Let me sleep.

Keith...

The Door

It came down to one thing.
And yet that still wasn't enough.

So you smiled at me,
thanked me for the good times,
reminded me of the bad.
And still it came down to one thing.

Still you smile,
guiding me to the door.
Keys in hand,
with a chain for my heart in the other.

It doesn't matter,
I won't need it anymore.
Broken and locked away,
surrounded by a sea of sympathy.

But still you smile.

Feeling dirty and used.
Alone, yet surrounded by faces.
Their words swimming past me.
Somehow I smile and answer.

Going forward, yet pulled downwards.
But still there is your smile.
Kind words, yet so empty.
Devoid of feelings.
You crowd me towards that door.

And what was that one thing?
Now I know. I give it to you.
But let's leave it at that.
Too much bad water has flown past.
And now my heart is a rock,
that this water can't touch.

Forever smiling on the outside.
But the fool smiles too,
and doesn't know why.

I'm going now, the door awaits.
What lies behind it?

My life... My fate...
